Hurricanes Storms And Hurricanes - 1226 Words

Hurricanes are unpredictable and extremely dangerous. Not all storms start out as hurricanes. They form out in the ocean near the coast of Africa. Through the hurricanes journey, how fast or slow the storm moves will depend on the weather fueling it. The projected path varies because of wind, rain, size of storm and whether it hit any land or not. Throughout history Florida has been the hardest hit area by hurricanes. Florida has had ten worst hurricanes which caused most people to try and flee from their homes. These hurricanes caused life altering effects and devastation for those who lived in the path of the storm. The three major hurricanes that hit Florida’s coastline brought intense wind, rain, destruction, and unpreparedness. Although Florida has suffered through many tropical storms and hurricanes, Floridians finally overcame their laxed attitude toward preparation due to the devastation of Hurricane Andrew. The hurricane that hit the Florida Keys gave way to a new destruction against the people living there. This hurricane was not named but it hit on Labor Day, September 1935. The American Meteorologists inscribed the storm as being the most terrifying and placed it in the annuals history book (Reilly B.pg.298).This storm started out small but sat in the Atlantic Ocean where the warm waters helped it to develop stronger. EMERSON Essay Example For Students

EMERSON Essay Society never advances. It recedes as fast on one side as itgains on the other. Although written long ago these wordsby, Ralph Waldo Emerson still hold true today. Everyday insociety people are making improvements, however, butthese improvements also have equal drawbacks. Today weare using cutting edge technology to improve every aspect ofour daily lives. For instance in todays society the fields ofCommunication and Medicine are constantly advancing yetthey both create significant losses. Technology has helpedincrease the speed of communication and decrease its cost. However, at the same time it has caused people to becomemore impersonal with each other. In earlier times the majorform of communication was for people to visit each otherand go to public meeting places. One of the next majoradvances was the telephone. Due to the telephone peopleno longer went to the public meeting places as often as theyused to. As time goes on, new advances still allow people tocontact and communicate with each other more easily. These advances such as faxes, beepers, and electronic mail, although seemingly making life easier, each help to decreasethe earlier forms of communication. The field of medicine, like the field communication, also displays what Emersonwas trying to say. This field too, which had many advances, has also caused many difficulties. As scientists and doctorstry to come up with cures for the many diseases we havetoday, they are also making new ones. For example, whenscientists went to Africa in search of a cure for a disease, they came back with monkeys that were contaminated withthe Emboli virus. Today in Russia there are military baseswhere Russian scientists are creating thousands of germs andviruses to use in germ warfare. These germs and viruses arecapable of killing thousands of people instantly. Astechnology continues to advance and society movesforward, people continue to use the less personal forms ofcommunication, and create new problems in the field ofmedicine. The fear of becoming a society, whichcommunicates only through machines, and creates newdisease, is becoming greater with time. For all of societygains there are equal drawbacks. So as in Ralph WaldoEmerson words society never advances.

Punishment Paper free essay sample

?Unfortunately I made a common mistake in loosing my ID card. As a result I have to write this essay showing that I feel bad or something along those lines. The technical subject of this essay: The importance of maintaining security of sensitive items and responsibility. To get a better understanding, this is how it all went down. I was working in the office and as I recall I grabbed my ID card and put it in my pocket. I left for lunch and when I reached my destination I realized it was gone. After freaking out, I retraced my steps and tried to figure out where it could have dropped. With no success and a realization of utter failure I gave up; and retreated to my superior for help. I heeded the information needed to get a new card. The conversation wasn’t as exultant as it could have been; however Im hardly in a convivial mood these days. We will write a custom essay sample on Punishment Paper or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page I went about getting a new card and received it. This would be the part where I expressed how I’ve learned from my failure and will never do it again. Obviously that’s not going to happen; however I will jot down the important contents that are required for this gelastic essay. It is exigent to make sure one has his ID on him at all times. The possibilities of peril are endless. It is also important because with items like ID cards it also controls access to sensitive areas such as, getting on and off post. If a lost ID falls into the wrong hands that gives endless possibilities to someone who shouldnt be on post, which can put other soldiers, contractors, and military families in danger. Along with putting them at risk, the fact of government property at risk of thief and/or vandalism can distort ones basic position in the military. There are also very important documents and equipment that if fallen into the wrong hands can be problematic to the government. Accountability is very important and crucial for success in the army. But in the military we utilize specific kinds of identification cards. These cards are for any people that are in or related to the armed forces, whether it is marines, navy, and in my case the army. They are also issued out to family members and their dependents, and civilian Department of Defense workers. Military ID CAC cards are required components of military uniforms in a day-to-day life of a soldier. Amongst ID cards it is important to secure all sensitive items. Sensitive items are anything that is considered classified or a mission essential item. These items can include protective gear, maps, or a piece of paper designating patrol routes. The habits of exercising security and accountability of a soldiers items allow the soldier and their team to operate to the highest standards or have items be accessed by an opposing adversary creating loss of overall mission success. Operational security is a process that denied critical information to an adversary. If one were to obtain the information presented it could be used against friendly forces. Utilizing all assets to maintain and secure sensitive items and classified information promote proper operational security and soldier readiness. All personnel should maintain accountability of all sensitive material to allow full utilization by themselves and anyone involved with the mission and still maintain operational security. Operational security can be compromised through the loss of sensitive items due to loss of equipment used for operational planning, or items used for support missions. Depending on the sensitive item that is being classified it could fall under a different level of security as it is deemed by the government. In my case loosing an ID, government property, can give someone the access to all computers on post allowing them to steal and or hack there way into precious goods the military doesn’t want to get out. Lack of accountability shows a lack of responsibility, and though I am a responsible person i still failed and securing my ID, and there is no room in the military for irresponsibility. Being responsible refers to our ability to make decisions that serve our own interests and the interests of others. We first need to be responsible for ourselves before we can be responsible for others. In learning to be more responsible it is important that we know our limitations. It does not matter how smart we are, there is only so much responsibility that a person can handle. The word responsibility is also defined as a burden. My definition of responsibility is trust. When someone holds you responsible for something, they trust you to do what you are supposed to. Responsibility is something that is easily lost, when you lose some ones trust, they do not see you as a responsible individual. I would like to quote a few references whose information seems to fit very well with this essay: â€Å"We must be effective members of the Joint team. We need to think of our Army as an expeditionary force. We need to encourage innovation and increase resiliency. And most important, we need to reinforce the Warrior Ethos in every Soldier. Being responsible in the US Army has got to be of the utmost importance in my opinion. Throughout the past few months I have been dealing with many problems physically and mentally, and I strongly believe that this has, in part, to blame for my lack of responsibility. Even so, this is really no reason at all to slack on any part of being a responsible soldier. Soldiers must be and act responsibly in every situation they may find themselves in, whether it’s in or out of uniform. Responsibility increases when soldiers believe that they have personal control over their mission performance, performing out of desire to do well instead of just following orders. There have been many studies that have suggested that when a Soldier feels that they have personal control over work performance the result is that the Soldier has a better task performance, better problem solving, a higher persistence in accomplishing the task, more positive emotions and even better psychological and physical health. Responsibility and accountability are two of the main factors in being a successful Soldier in today’s U. S. Army. You must be a responsible soldier if you want to make it through deployment alive. Or even worse, if you fail to be responsible you could risk someone else’s life or your entire squad’s lives. In remembrance and to finalize the essay, I must remember that it is very important to secure all my sensitive equipment and items, and maintain accountability. The reason simply is to keep very important high cost valued items and equipment accounted for so people all around me do not have to deal with the consequences of the lost item or equipment. Also every sensitive item or equipment is high dollar valued so if I lose it I will be hurting money wise by losing a grand or more easily right on the spot. And after that I can possibly do jail time from six months to a year and sure their will be rank taken away or something along those lines. Im clearly realizing that it is essential for me to keep this information in my head so that I inexorably avoid punishment to that extent. My scenario isnt nearly as precarious as it may be perceived; however the opinions of a soldier are irrelevant in this or any case. Typing this essay has taught me a bit of a lesson, a more emotionally shutdown point of view. I obviously dont want to do this again and so I will be more careful. I am also taking heed that I must maintain a responsible effigy in the work place so there wont be any question as to what or how much responsibility I can handle. I am a soldier and that will become my utter most priority for now on. I also want to apologize because again the conversation did not go as well as I had hoped, but it is what it is. I feel the responsibility of a soldier is his honour and without honour what else is there. Only with the pride of who I am will I regain the respect that I deserve. This doesnt nearly atone for my carelessness; however it is a start. Now on a more truthful note, this essay was a complete over kill of my time. I clearly did learn the lesson due to the fact that I don’t want to be doing this again. For this to be graded as if some kind of term paper is fortuitous to me is beyond me. Of course this paper has no thought or care into it so Im not going to worry if the dearth of enthusiasm is going to affect my score. Still not caring much, but I know might be a few words short and it will have to do for me. There only so much fake emotion, thought, and plagiarism I can come up with. Otherwise it all sounds repetitive and I don’t want to do that so here is my essay. Enjoy!

Learn About Rock Cycle in the Earths Crust

Learn About Rock Cycle in the Earth's Crust Rocks are composed primarily of minerals and can be an amalgam of different minerals or can be composed of one mineral. Over 3500 minerals have been identified; most of these can be found in the Earths crust. Some of the Earths minerals are exceedingly popular - fewer than 20 minerals compose more than 95% of the Earths crust. There are three different ways rock can be created on Earth and thus there are three main classifications of rock, based on the three processes - igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Igneous Rock Igneous rocks are formed from the molten liquid minerals that lie below the Earths crust. Theyre formed from magma that cools beneath the Earths surface or from lava that cools upon the Earths surface. These two methods of igneous rock formation are known as intrusive and extrusive, respectively. Intrusive igneous formations can be forced to the surface of the Earth where they can exist as masses of rock known as plutons. The largest types of exposed plutons are called batholiths. The Sierra Nevada mountains are a large batholith of igneous granite rock. Slowly cooling igneous rock will usually contain larger mineral crystals than igneous rock that cools more quickly. The magma that forms igneous rock beneath the surface of the earth can take thousands of years to cool. Quickly cooling rock, often extrusive lava that comes from volcanoes or fissures in the Earths surface has small crystals and may be quite smooth, such as the volcanic obsidian rock. All rocks on Earth were originally igneous as thats the only method entirely new rock can be formed. Igneous rocks continue to form today under and above the earths surface as magma and lava cool to form new rock. The word igneous comes from Latin and means fire formed. Most of the rocks of the Earths crust are igneous although sedimentary rocks usually cover them. Basalt is the most common type of igneous rock and it covers the ocean floor and thus, exists over two-thirds of the Earths surface. Sedimentary Rock Sedimentary rocks are formed by the lithification (cementing, compacting, and hardening) of existing rock or the bones, shells, and pieces of formerly living things. Rocks are weathered and eroded into tiny particles which are then transported and deposited along with other pieces of rock called sediments. Sediments are cemented together and compacted and hardened over time by the weight and pressure of up to thousands of feet of additional sediments above them. Eventually, the sediments are lithified and become solid sedimentary rock. These sediments that come together are known as clastic sediments. Sediments usually sort themselves by the size of the particles during the deposition process so sedimentary rocks tend to contain similarly sized sedimentary particles. An alternative to clastic sediments are chemical sediments which are minerals in solution that harden. The most common chemical sedimentary rock is limestone, which is a biochemical product of calcium carbonate created by the parts of dead creatures. Approximately three-quarters of the Earths bedrock on the continents is sedimentary. Metamorphic Rock Metamorphic rock, which comes from the Greek to change form, is formed by applying great pressure and temperature to existing rock converting it into a new distinct type of rock. Igneous rocks, sedimentary rocks, and even other metamorphic rocks and be modified into metamorphic rocks. Metamorphic rocks are usually created when they come under extreme pressure such as under many thousands of feet of bedrock or through being crushed at the junction of tectonic plates. Sedimentary rocks can become metamorphic rocks if the thousands of feet of sediments above them apply enough heat and pressure to further change the structure of the sedimentary rock. Metamorphic rocks are harder than other types of rock so theyre more resistant to weathering and erosion. Rock always converts into the same type of metamorphic rock. For example, the sedimentary rocks limestone and shale become marble and slate, respectively, when metamorphosed. The Rock Cycle We know that all three rock types can be turned into metamorphic rocks but all three types can also be changed through the rock cycle. All rocks can be weathered and eroded into sediments, which can then form sedimentary rock. Rocks can also be completely melted into magma and become reincarnated as igneous rock.

The last thing you want to do at such moments is to concentrate your effort on homework that still needs to be done timely and with much skill. However, it is often hard to resist the temptation to just set your homework aside and start doing something fun instead. Be that as it may, homework is something you cannot avoid by all means and as such you need to learn how to do it with maximum productivity. It is especially vital to do homework timely because if you leave it for later, it will eventually pile up and become a great burden that will be hard to deal with later on. Let’s explore what techniques you can employ in order to concentrate on your homework without being distracted.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=Determine What Distracts You from Homework use_t heme_fonts=yes][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Obviously, the 21st century is the epoch of distractions. We all have to strive hard against distractions that divert our attention from essential things in our life. These might be social networks, our mates, some vital things we need to do at a particular moment, our concerns and worries, our thoughts and anxiety as well as a myriad of temptations that are all around us (including doing shopping or eating some delicious meals). All this makes us distracted from what we really have to do, like homework.First thing you have to do in order to stay focused is to identify what diverts your attention from homework most of all, making your mind drift away to some distracting tasks, places or ideas that you need to think of at the moment. No one would argue that social media plays a significant role in our everyday lives. Just think how much time we spend on social networks, which often prevent us from doing something really important like homework. All you have to do is just put away the distracting device and focus on your home tasks. The constant sound of notifications causes much inconvenience, especially if you are doing homework and trying to concentrate on the task as much as you can. This would help you to stay in focus without too much effort. When you have some homework to be completed, the learning regimen would serve as the major factor forcing you to sit down and keep working up until the project is ready. This process is not too complicated. You just have to tell yourself that you’ll dedicate a portion of your time to homework after you come from school and have some rest. During this time, you’ll have to keep your phone turned off, make an outline of your future work and just start doing whatever you need to do.Create a special atmosphere that will encourage you to reveal your potential to the fullest. This is another important issue because you need to choose a special place for learning. Don’t think it does not matter, because it is always best to have a separate place where no one would disturb you and where no other member of the family will be doing some of their activities. An isolated room where you feel comfortable would be an ideal place for doing homework.Avoid doing certain things in advance. It is worth keeping in mind that if you intend to complete your homework to the best of your abilities, you’d rather not eat a big meal before you get down to work. This will not allow you to concentrate properly. Instead, you’ll feel too lazy to do anything, let alone homework. Just have some snack so as not to be hungry and start working for the sake of your academic success.Take a break from time to time and calm your thoughts using physical exercises or taking a short walk to stretch your legs. This will allow you to work productively and avoid getting too tired and overwhelmed with the scope of homework you need to complete.Don’t forget to keep your study notes organized and well-structured. It is important to know yo ur priorities. This means that you need to understand what you will do in the first place and what things can be done later. After that, just make a small outline of your future work and highlight the most essential tasks to be performed during your study time.Let your close people know that you do not want to be disturbed during your learning time. Family members entering the room or calling you when you are studying might prevent you from focusing on your studies and revealing your creativity to the fullest. Just let them know you need a bit of privacy.Don’t forget about the deadlines. Just try to understand what serves as a distraction and deal with it appropriately.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=Keep Digital Distra ctions Away by Restricting the Use of Technologies use_theme_fonts=yes][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]We all have a habit to keep track of our social networking activity day by day. To avoid causing harm to your academic success, just turn your phone off and set aside the rest of digital technologies for later use.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=Useful Learning Habits to Help You Out use_theme_fonts=yes][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_tex t]Here are a few tips as for how to cultivate effective learning habits in order to stay focused and concentrate on your home tasks with much productivity.Follow a regimen. Even if your instructor does not force you to hurry up, you still need to set some deadlines in order to keep your work organized and know exactly when you will get it done.As such, there are lots of techniques that can be used to stay focused on your homework. However, it is always best to leave this task to professional writers, so don’t hesitate to ask our writing service for help i f you find it hard to concentrate on your learning tasks. Calvin Geneva and His Influence on European Reformation Essay

Calvin Geneva and His Influence on European Reformation - Essay Example According to George (pp. 23-25) in 1536, Calvin went to Geneva, where he was a reform led by Guillaume Farel well under way. In the light of the opinion of Cottret (pp. 78-81) Calvin was persuaded to stay in Geneva and helped manage the second major wave of Protestantism. In their ordinances of 1541, he gave a new organization to pastors, doctors, the elderly, and those who were deacons of the church. Its institutes of the Christian religion (1536) had great influence in France, Scotland (where John Knox led the reform of Calvinist), and among the Puritans in England. Geneva became the center of a large company that reached missionary in France, where the Huguenots became so influential that a synod met in Paris in 1559 for ordering a church at the national level of about 2,000 congregations reformed. As a result of the French wars of religion, the party of Huguenot was controlled and kept the French monarchy Catholic kingdom (Hpfl, pp. 90-98). It could be claimed that Calvin has exerted an enormous influence in the realms of economics and politics through his famous teaching on "predestination" (Kingdon, pp. 231-233) which he developed from the New Testament letters of Paul and writings of Augustine. This doctrine mentions that God has the complete right to choose whom he will for salvation, which, while ruling out human endeavor or goodness as a factor in the equation, can lead - as Max Weber notably argued - to concerned individuals seeking from God signs of their having been selected (McGrath, pp. 78-84). These most clearly take the form of economic success, rewards for tough graft and sound investment, and although Calvin himself aimed to be wary of commercial activity, placing in high regard the life of poverty, the great economic revolution of much of Europe and the United States in subsequent centuries was led by people claiming allegiance to his ideas. Prestwich (pp. 78-79) Calvin saw the world, including the realm of history, as "the theater of God's glory," and he urged Christian scholars to peruse the past in order to discover patterns of divine providence and spiritual blessing. Calvin advocated a kind of historical scholarship that was both critical and providentialist (Prestwich, pp. 78-79), one in which the line between sacred and secular history was intentionally blurred. He wrote: "It is not enough to have our eyes open and to note well and mark what God does during our lives, but we must profit from ancient histories. In fact, this is why our Lord has wanted us to have some notable judgments left in writing, so that the memory of them would remain forever. And we should not only profit from what is contained in Holy Scripture, but when we hear what is spoken by the histories written by the pagans, we should also have the prudence to apply to ourselves what God has done" (Badertscher, pp. 67-71). It appears that Calvin's reforming project in Geneva coincided almost exactly with the Council of Trent and reassertion of Catholicism after the blow dealt it by the popularity of Luther's ideas. Philosophy of religion the theological teaching and political views developed by the French theologian and church
